Had my forgetfulness occurred a few hours later, it would have been at a time of even more heightened security alert. Lufthansa never said. But I doubt that it was my wife's fault. In retrospect, I think I put it in the seat pocket in front of me when I got on the plane and then forgot to take it out when getting off the plane. So where was my passport all along?
